San Luigi Gonzaga Hospital

San Luigi Hospital Thoracic Surgery Department is equipped with a modern IT structure for recording and archiving patient records.

We created a web application for archiving and reporting the healthcare services provided, allowing the staff to enter the medical records and update them following the evolution of the patient and the medicine given.

The objective of the tool is to have data that can be easily aggregated and analyzed by the department staff: San Luigi is a hospital-university structure that combines assistance activities with teaching and scientific research. The analysis of patients' clinical histories is a wealth of knowledge that, if properly studied, leads to innovative solutions and improved care. The IT tools provide researchers with support for studying data.

For this reason, during the project analysis, we evaluated the data porting from the previous local application in order to not lose the history created up to then, enhancing it in the new tool. Data are recorded and saved on our servers: this is sensitive data that must be treated according to the law and with high-security measures. Patient records and diseases are encrypted and separated, so that it is not possible to associate them with one another. In addition, access to files is allowed only to employees of the healthcare facility, who can access with the account provided. Each access and every operation is tracked and recorded in log files, kept for the time required by law.
